Old Fashion Chicken Soup

January 15, 2018

Someone have the flu?  Tired of the cold?  Show some love with homemade Chicken soup with a secret ingredient.

Using a slow cooker liner, set to low, I placed these  items in the slow cooker.  All of these items can be found at the Fayetteville Farmer's Market, in the winter it's indoors at Ozark Natural Foods Cooperative.

3 large antibiotic free chicken breasts (I used the ones I had frozen last month.)

1/2 chopped sweet onion

3 celery stalks, sliced.

2 cups chicken broth.

10 fresh baby carrots.

Salt & pepper to taste.

Cook on low 8 hour or until chicken shreds with a fork.

Add 1/2 can chopped green chilis and a handful of broken spaghetti noodles or white rice last hour.   Corn or cream corn is also a good option.

Serve with hot cornbread, crackers or your favorite bread in your soup cozy.  Reheat the next day......soup cozy and all in the microwave.

This is a perfect hostess gift with a handwritten recipe or soup ingredients in the soup cozy.

Nothings says "I care" more than handcrafted and homemade.
